(Blow-by-blow below the fold...)
Less
8:39 : Fred on No Child Left Behind : "Some of those critics were right, and a lot of us were wrong."

8:42 : Rudy G. defends school choice. He's right on that, but is school choice really a federal issue?

8:45 : Mitt pretty much flubs the question on whether Hillary is fit to be Commander-in-Chief.

8:49 : Rudy responds to Fred's claim that Rudy's too much like the Democrats. Claims he agrees with Hillary on (1) the Yankees and (2) that America can't afford Hillary's plans. Rudy's all wet. Of course, there's a lot more policy agreement between Rudy and Hillary than Rudy cares to admit.

8:52 : Dark humor from John M. on Hillary's Woodstock Museum : "I wasn't there [at Woodstock]....I was tied up at the time."

8:54 : Mike H. hammers his fellow Republicans for failing to reach out to minorities. Claims "there's nothing funny about Hillary being President." Have to agree with him on that one.

8:55 : Fred "Hillary is always a good applause line... If we go down that road, we're gonna all be paying higher taxes.... We can't sustain our spending. The problem with Democrats is that everyone who works is 'rich.'... If we stick to our first principles, we'll win next November.... Democrats..are going to lead us down the road to a comfortable mediocrity, and that's not the America I grew up in."

8:57 : Ron P. gets a serious boos for his anti-war rhetoric.

8:58 : Fred on entitlements : "There's no reason to run for the presidency of the United States if you can't tell the truth.... Our spending is unsustainable.... If we do some responsible things now, we don't have to [make drastic changes in entitlements.]"

9:01 : to Rudy : "We have to deal with Social Security, but we have to get consensus first.... We have to bring down the cost of health care."

9:02 : to Mitt : "I'm prepared to be entirely bold...but we're not going to cut benefits.... Indexing benefits to inflation is not a solution... It has to be bipartisan... Good, effective leadership will get this done.... We will find common ground."

9:05 : Mike H.: It's a question of "branding." Suggests offering one-time buyout to high-income retirees.

9:06 : Ron P. wants to give younger taxpayers the right to opt out of social security entirely.

9:08 : John M.: "The solution has to be bipartisan... You gotta go to the American people."

9:10 : Duncan H.: Our tax and trade policies are causing our entitlement problems.

9:11 : Tancredo : "I agree with all of that... and there is a plan to give social security benefits to illegal immigrants.... Hundreds of hospitals closed across the country because of illegals."

9:15 : John M. on Russia's new weapons buildup : "When I looked into Mr. Putin's eyes, I saw three letters : "K-G-B" I don't see a return to the Cold War... but this is a dangerous person. I would make sure we have a missile defense system [in Eastern Europe]."

9:17 : Duncan H. wants to "partner" with Putin? WTF???

9:18 : Rudy rejects Hunter's partnership idea; endorses missile defense, expansion of NATO into Eastern Europe, expansion of military spending.

9:20 : Fred on the border struggle between the PKK and Turkey : "Turkey is a friend of ours. They've got a right to defend themselves from acts of terrorists. PKK are terrorists... We have to understand Turkey's position... Turkey is a NATO ally... Not everything they do is pleasing to us... Pelosi is now interjecting partisan politics into foreign policy."

9:22 : Tancredo agrees with Fred. Gives an answer without tying it to immigration? ???

9:23 : Huckabee wants to train the Kurds and dissuade the Turks.

9:24 : Ron Paul "all we have to do is start talking to people and trading with people."

9:25 : Romney : "More troops, more equipment, better care when troops come home."

9:26 : to Paul : "Has the Republican Party left you?" : Republicans are big spenders. They've lost the traditional conservative principles. Republicans have consistently won elections with non-interventionism. (Mixture of boos and applause in response.)

9:28 : Rudy G : "We will not allow Iran to become nuclear... We would take action to stop them if they become nuclear."

9:29 : Fred T responds to the "lazy" criticism : "I was a father at the age of 17... I worked in a factory to pay the bills... I was an assistant U.S. Attorney at the age of 28... I was elected to the Senate twice in a state that Bill Clinton carried twice... I was asked by Condoleeza Rice to serve on a panel to advise her on national security issues... President Bush asked me to shepherd John Roberts, now Chief Justice Roberts through the Senate. If a man can do all that and be lazy, I recommend it to anybody."
